Chemical resistance: At present, it has not been found that solvents that can dissolve polyphenylene sulfide below 200 ℃ are highly resistant to inorganic acids, alkalis and salts. Resistant to chlorinated biphenyls and oxidizing acids, oxidants, aqua regia, hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite.
PPS resistance to radiation is good, radiation resistance to Gy 1 × 108, other engineering plastics can not match the new materials, in the electronics, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, aviation, aerospace, military, especially in the atomic bomb, The only ideal material for radiation.
PPS itself is quite stable chemical structure, but also contains the flame retardant element - sulfur, therefore, PPS has excellent flame resistance. Pure PPS can be passed through UL-94 V0 at a thickness of 0.8mm. Basically, the UL94 flammability of the various grades of PPS, except for a few grades, such as the super toughness series, belong to the V-0 level and is the best grade in the UL 94 flammability. Super tough series PPS contains some toughening agent, will sacrifice some of the flammability.
Pure PPS and no added conductivity of the PPS grade are excellent electrical insulation properties. The addition of carbon fiber to the PPS grade has a relatively low volume resistivity.

PPS Features:

(1) general performance: PPS is a white appearance, high crystallinity, hard and brittle polymer, pure PPS relative density of 1.3, but after modification will increase. PPS has a very small water absorption, generally only about 0.03%. PPS has a good flame retardancy, and its oxygen index is as high as 44%. Compared with other plastics, it is a high flame retardant material in plastic (47% for pure PVC, 30% for PSF, 29% for PA66, MPPO was 28% and PC was 25%).

(2) mechanical properties: pure PPS mechanical properties are not high, especially the impact strength is relatively low. With the glass fiber reinforced will greatly improve the impact strength, increased from 27J / m to 76J / m, increased by 3 times; tensile strength increased from 6Mpa to 137Mpa, increased by 1 times. PPS is very rigid, rare in engineering plastics. Pure PPS flexural modulus up to 3.8Gpa, inorganic filling modified up to 12.6Gpa, increased by 5 times. And known for the rigid PPO only 2.55Gpa, PC only 2.1Gpa.

PPS under the load creep resistance is good, high hardness; high wear resistance, the 1000 rpm when the wear is only 0.04g, F4 filled with molybdenum disulfide and then will be further improved; PPS also has a certain self Run. (4) Electrical properties: PPS electrical performance is very prominent, compared with other engineering plastics, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent values ​​are relatively low, and in the larger frequency, temperature and temperature range change is not ; PPS arc resistance is good, comparable with thermosetting plastic. PPS commonly used in electrical insulation materials, the amount can account for about 30%.

(5) environmental performance: PPS one of the most important characteristics of chemical resistance, and its chemical stability after F4; PPS on most acids, esters, ketones, aldehydes, phenols and aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, And other stable, not resistant to chlorinated biphenyl and oxidizing acid, oxidants, concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid, aqua regia, hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite. PPS has good radiation resistance. In addition, pps has better heat resistance than nylon, good dimensional stability, excellent resistance to oil and resistance.
